Lake Kegonsa State Park

The lake was reffered by the early settlers as "First lake" beacause it is the first of the four lakes of Madison( Lake Mendota, Waubesa, Monona, Kengonsa)" The name Kegonsa is attributed to the Ho-Chunk (Winnebago) Indians who once lived in this area. Kegonsa means "Lake of Many Fishes." Today, Lake Kegonsa is still one of Wisconsin’s most productive fishing lakes."1

The State Park is located in 2405 Door Creek Rd, Stoughton, WI 53589,Dane County. It has a playgrounds and picnic areas, two reservable shelters nearby is a volleyball court. There are a lot of recreational activities you can do in the park such us camping, grilling, swimming, kayaking or kanoeing, boating, swimming, fishing, trapping, hunting and also Archery. During the winter season , country skiing is very popular in the park, you can also do ice fishing, however, snowshoeing and pets are prohibited.

Campground is a very wooded area and very accomodating with clean drinking fountain, flush toilet and showers. You can either choose Family Camground which has 96 sites, 68 of it are reservable, 29 have electrical hookups that can accomodate pop-ups, RVs and trailers or Ground Camp which has a six sites that can accomodate of up to 20 campers per site.
Ground Camp however are only for tents;Pop-ups, trail, and RVs are not allowed. There are also two elctric campsites for campers with disability.
